I'm trying to simulate the Fundus (Eye) camera of capturing an image of the
retina. The human eye can be simplified by a model of a sphere filled with
a known refraction index, with a front-end extended curvature of known
radius to represent the cornea. I would like to back track or trace the
images of the portion of the inside sphere as refracted and projected into
a Pinhole camera. Have any one attempted to have an eye model, or have an
example of ray tracing through an Optical Lens or refractive media. Any
help would be appreciated and properly credited in case of publications. A
simple schematic can be found at page 31 in a paper titled "A simple
mathematical model for simulation of the human optical system based on in
vivo corneal data" by Luis Alberto Carvalho, which can be found with Google
search.

I am trying to do the same thing. If you find a good model or end up
building one let me know. I am in the process of building a model. In Pov
ray, implementing the concept is not as straight forward as you would
think.
