Hello,

I created some topographic map with cycas (http://www.cycas.de/) - btw very
good package
(free for non commercial usage and have linux version).

I can render this map with povray to some image, but I would like to have
the possibility
to move inside like in quake/doom etc. Can you explain me how can I reach
this goal?

Can I convert pov file to some game map?

Regards,
Andrei

No. The POVRay format is not intrinsically a mesh, so conversion is not
possible. For more information on this, visit this page:

Hi Andrei,

You can move the camera of Your scene along a predefined path and create an
animation from the series of single images. But You will have no
interactive movement. The camera will only move along the predefined, fixed
spline. And rendering can take a long time, depending on Your scene and the
length of Your animation.

Sounds complicated. sometimes I think Quake Map Editor is the best package
because it allows the great opportunities to move whenever you want.

Actually, there used to be a method to convert pov source into Quake maps. I
believe it required extensive use of the box primitive. It used to be on
this server, but I haven't looked for it in awhile. Don't expect it to be a
miracle worker, though.

You might try pov2mesh at http://www.geocities.com/psenzee/pov2mesh/
Convert .pov to (maya) .obj and then texture and convert to doom or quake
with something like milkshape.

It's still pretty raw, but I'm continually working on it.
