How does one render for small poster-size, photo-quality output (i.e.
20"x17" @ 600dpi, or 12000x10200) ?

If, for some reason, you need to do it in pieces, you may find my old "zoom
in" include file handy:

http://www.slimeland.com/misc/zoomin.inc

It lets you specify a section of the image to render, and as long as the
dimensions you render with are the same dimensions that you've specified to
zoom in to, the images should, theoretically, merge seamlessly in a 2D
editor.

Test it out on a small image first, because it's possible I screwed up and
the merging won't be completely seamless.
