This ought to be possible but I can't get the syntax quite right.
I'm looking for a woodcut effect: white if "slope" > "marble".
Any suggestions?

Seems you might have lost everyone on the idea by saying marble :-)

Greater than a certain value of the marble pattern as it goes from 0 to
1? And, since you said slope too, I suppose your talking about effect on
a 3D object instead of a 2D pattern. Whole thing is probably the stuff
of functions and isosurfaces, if so.

Pattern applied via texturing has been done before for woodcut
appearance, by Rune I believe. You might find a message in a search
about that.
