Is there a quick/easy way to do this in Moray? The camera
position-reference only does absolute relative to the object
in question without rotating the object to line up with the
camera...

I have no idea what you're babbling about :-) Care to elaborate?

I will say that you can place the objects that you place the camera
relative to in a group and then move the group about, that will move
the camera in sync with the camera... is that what you're asking?

I wanna fake a game screenshot entirely in Moray/POV without having
to paste over a shot of the game's HUD in postwork.

But will it rotate the group to always be perpendicular to the line-
of-sight of the camera?

Hmmm. I'm not sure. If you set up the group to display the HUD stuff
and then rotate it about X and Z only, it should work. This means no
Roll of the camera, though. And you can't rotate through the zenith
and expect the picture to be upside down....

I suggest simply experimenting and trying it out. The camera will
always be positioned at the place where the objects land up at, but
will be parallel to the Z plane, i.e. no roll.
