this is to those of you who have the latest release of Moray 3.3 (the
non-beta). i've reworked the help system and would like feedback from
you folks (positive and negative). it's a lot different from the old
one (html help instead of win help) and some of it was tricky to figure
out (it's my first one). i'd appreciate suggestions and bug reports
(messed up links etc.). send reports to my email at
rco### [at] yahoocom. oh yeah, i almost forgot, if you have
suggstions for more or better tutorials for the tutorial section, that
would be great. also, if you actually know how to implement your
suggestions, i'd like to hear about it. a couple things i'd like to do,
but haven't found out how yet are: formatting the text in the popups
(bold, italics, etc.), adding graphics to popups (or making new windows
(which i didn't use this time) close if you click outside of them). if
you'd like to write a tutorial, do it in html, make each page small, zip
it, and send it to me for review. lutz and i will decide if it's
appropriate for the help system or if we should open a new section on
his website for tutorials.
am i forgeting anything?

so did anybody even read this? or have you not checked out the help
system? i can't believe only one person had an opinion about it. or do
you think the help system isn't important?

I think this question is better answered by someone who isn't already
familiar with Moray :)

I've not had the time to check the help, and besides, nowadays, I don't
check the help that often in Moray...
I'll have a look next time I get the desire and inspiration necesary for
me to make any serious use of Moray. Good enough?
Bye for now,
Jamie.

OK, I've had a quick look, and (surprise, surprise) found a glitch.
In the tutorials section, from the page "Using Forward Kinematics with an
IK model" if you click the next page arrow, it comes up with :
The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might
be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your
browser settings.
The page is still there, and displays if you click on it in the left hand
index pane, but the hyperlink to it from the previous page doesn't work.
To be honest, I don't know if there are any more broken links like that,
as I only had a quick look in the tutorials section to see if there were
any new ones for IK (Which still ties my brain in knots occasionally)
Other than that, I sort of like it. Only sort of because I don't really
like hyperlinks, I prefer a single continuous document, but that's just
me.
Maybe in a couple of months, when I've had a chance to thoroughly go
through it looking for something obscure, I'll have something more
constructive to add.
Bye for now,
Jamie.

More broken Links :
From the page entitled Basic interaction, the next arrow doesn't work.
From the page entitled Material Editor, the bext arrow again, doesn't
work.
I didn't go through the links in the body text, just the next links, so
it's possible that there may be more, but I don't have the time or
inclination to go through checking all the links in the file at the
moment.
Maybe if I get bored enough :)
Bye for now,
Jamie.

thanks, that's what i need to hear about. many times i would make a
link to a page that didn't yet exist. then when i made the page, i'd
give it a slightly different name but forget to fix all the links to
it. i'd also like suggestions of tutorials you'd like to see. i will
be adding pictures to all of the tutorials. i'd especially like comment
on the material editor section.
