Will the current version of Moray work with POV-Ray 3.5 when that comes out?
What about a new Moray to go with the new Pov? How about it Lutz?

I have it on good authority that it will be released this year :~)
With regards to the original question there will be no reason that
Moray will not work with POV-Ray v3.5. The only real issue will be
how many of the new features will be supported. Since POV-Ray v3.5
hasn't even gone into the beta testing rounds yet it will obviously
be a while before Lutz can start offering support for whatever new
features are available.

I think that pov 3.5 will work perfectly with Moray, you will just have to
get dirty with the code to use new features (if any), that is unless they
decided to changle all the reserved words, and start calling spheres
something else. (and if they do that it will only take a minor tweak on
lutz's part)
as long as they dont rewrite media again...

I hope they do rewrite media. It's slow as a wet week.

The core code for media will remain the same as it is now. However
there will be additional sampling methods available that will allow
the render performance to increase noticably in some situations.
Mostly when using scattering media.

As Ken said, new sampling methods will be added (probably the ones in
MegaPov) which will make media as fast as the old halo.
In my opinion, the current sampling method should not be dropped out
(as it probably won't). It has its uses. For example see:

I'm not sure how easy would it be to make that grainy-looking smoke with
the sampling method 3.
