Hi all.

I was a participant in the IRTC stills competition for the first time
this past round. I'm curious *not complaining* about how quickly the
web site is typically updated? The voting page still says, "Voting
for the March-April 2006 round will open on 1 May 2006." I'd like to
view the other entrant's submissions and I'm also interested in what
the next topic will be.

Is it typically a few days or so before the site is updated? I'm
guessing that it is the case, based on some other posts I've read in
this forum.

Hi Kyle,

As you may have noticed, I was the last person to post this sort of inquiry.
Here's what I have learned: Your basic perception is pretty much correct.
New stuff usually appears just after the first weekend following a contest
session's end. I'm guessing this is because the hardworking volunteers who
run the site have real jobs and/or real lives that occupy their time in the
interim. Mr. Norbert Kern was kind enough to supply a link to a message
file that is usually one of the first places to find out the new topic:

Nothing there as of this posting. Also, you can sign up for an announcement
mailing list on the IRTC site which often will disclose the new topic a bit
before the main site is updated. Nothing there yet either.

Welcome to the wonderful world of POV/IRTC. The vast majority of folks that
you'll encounter here are helpful and friendly. Although I managed to get
entries into the last few rounds, I didn't really like any of the "Music"
ideas that worked on this time around, so I've decided to remain a
spectator/commentator for this round rather than submit what I consider to
be a substandard image.

I look forward to seeing your entry and to having you as a member of the
community.

Happy Ray Tracing,
Mike C.

Hi Mike.

Thanks for the reply. I kind of figured that's what the situation probably was. It's
unfortunate
when real work gets in the way of our fun!

oh! I had such a great idea, a very personal take on the theme!
Unfortunately, i've only came back to POV too late in the IRTC's current
topic timeline...

I'll still post it here when it's ready, though...

I'm just waiting for the new topic :-)

new topic is "light and fog".

It seems we'll see many lightbeams.

If that looks like a unknown extension to your browser (FF1.5 / w2k) you
might try
ftp://irtc.org/.message

LOL Or perhaps some groundfog, sunrise scenes. You'd be good at that,
Norbert. ;)
