The May/August 2013 Stills Challenge: *Elements of Geology*, has ended.

See http://www.tc-rtc.co.uk/display/index.html

TC-RTC members are now kindly invited to vote for the uploaded images.
As usual, they can do this till the end of the current month. Do not
forget to vote for all the images if you want your votes to be valid!

The new upcoming Challenge will run for *four months*
(September/December 2013) and its topic will be: *Legends*.

With Legends we may explore a wide range of possible subjects. Think
about Atlantis or King Arthur; or maybe you feel more attracted to the
Trojan Wars or the deeds of Alexander the Great. It may also be that
Urban Legends have your attention, or legendary gadgets like the Amiga.
Whatever you select, we want you to explore unexpected approaches. Amaze
us with undreamed of monsters of Loch Ness.

At the drawing board!

Looking forward to it. I even made a little Python program to help me. Looks
like a strong round, even though I've only seen the latest few entries on my
Blackberry. No Internet where I'm at, so final review and voting will have to
wait.

I was going to sit the next one out, but Legends is tempting.

Yes. I believe we have a good collection of strong images.

Of course it is tempting! This too could be a strong round indeed.

Yes, we have a lot of wonderful images this round and the next topic has the
potential of yielding even more inspiration. I wonder if one of the guys came up
with the legend of Lady Godiva...

At the moment I wonder what can be called a modern legend. Despite the fact that
I tend in music more to Simone Simmons from the Netherlands or Tarja Turunen
from Finland at the moment, the musician I visited most concerts in my life (5
in fact) is the now late Jon Lord with his "boy group". I would call him
a legend. (And I think without his combination of classic and rock, no one have
came up with the idea to combine opera with heavy metal, like Simone Simmons
(Epica) or Tarja Turunen (Nightwish)).

But I will not go for an "Tribute to Jon Lord" picture. My first idea is to
combine another modern German legend with an old German legend: Willi Baumeister
and Till Eulenspiegel.

Best regards,
Michael

Personally, I am not too sure about modern legends as they may not yet
have proven to be real legends, and there are so many older ones waiting
to be unveiled ;-)

Till is a good choice. Well known here too, especially through the book
by Flemish writer Charles de Coster. Curious to see how you are going to
link him to Willi Baumeister.

Yes, you're right. I only thought about it a while. To my step daughter Justin
Biber is a living legend...

It will be a weird interpretion of one of the last images Willi Baumeister made
in the year of his death 1955. A surrealistic interpretation of one of his
"Bluxao" series.

Best regards,
Michael
