Thank you, great news! A few minor things I noted:

o It's a bit strange to use the real name as "user name" for
login purposes, that could be split into a user name and a
friendly display name or login via email address.

o The viewing page for a round is a bit hidden behind
the small "View Round" link in the corner. Possibly the
topic could link there as well. Also, the images on the
viewing page are left-aligned although the corresponding
text is on the right side, suggesting wrong pairings.

o I think all past rounds should appear under "Past Rounds", even
the one which is currently show-cased under "Home". Actually I'm
not even sure that just showing past winners is the best content
for "Home", I'd have expected a (very short) description what the
site is about and a compact overview of the current and last
competition (the latter probably with the winning image).
   Nothing so scrollable ;)

o I didn't yet try submitting but it seems you need to provide
a thumbnail manually, which seems a hot candidate for future
automization ;) BTW I suppose submission by ftp is no
   longer supported?

At least, that is what I got after resetting the password
via email adress. As the real name usually contains a space,
clicking on the link in the email directly did not work,
that would have to be coded as %20 I think. But still
better to have user names without spaces ;)

+ should work as well in the URL.

I ended up creating a new account with my Screen Name. The email address I
originally used died a long time ago. :-)

Just to let everyone know - I'm collecting up the comments on the
appearance and functionality of the site. We have a new graphics
designer who volunteered to help out and we expect to replace the layout
of the site at some point in the future. Your comments will all feed
into that process. Some of the appearance of the site is temporary and
is done in a simple way just to get the site operational. We will be
improving it over time.

As for the thumbnails, I can easily create the thumbnails automatically
for stills but it would be impossible to do so for animation (which
frame would be the best representation of the animation). I felt that
we could start by having the submitter provide the thumbnails in all
cases. I may reconsider that decision before we start the first
official round so consider the mandatory thumbnails for still to be
temporary.

I'd like to keep the submission process managed completely by the site
which means that FTP submissions wouldn't be possible. I'm willing to
be convinced otherwise if the community feels strongly enough about it.

Thanks
David Buck

Dave,
SUCCESS ! I got it to work. I was able to upload my image and thumbnail. Only
one noticeable problem - the text in the description does not word wrap. It's
one long single line of text.
I know some people like to keep their images a secret during a contest, but I
would not mind seeing what's been submitted or people seeing my image before the
contest entry due date. Maybe a future enhancement would allow a couple of
work-in-progress images to be posted. These could be limited in size and be
automatically deleted when the final image is posted. Just a thought.

It's good to see the site back on line again!

I'll echo John's comment: Where did the final (unjudged) round go? Just because
it didn't get judged doesn't mean people didn't put work into the round.

Also, I think the 'View Round' link is way too small, and hidden at the bottom
of the page. I always though that the people who didn't rank in the top 3 got
the short end of the stick, since it was so hard to find their entries.

Now, the link to the 'losers' is even smaller than before.

Woohoo!

Finally I have a reason to use povray again :)

Thank you for all your hard work, I look forward to getting back into this
awesome competition.

Would it be possible to get an RSS feed of the current rounds and their
descriptions?
