Well, you could use the render pigment patch(or was it called portal?)
to make some pretty strange images. You could easily set things up so a
ray basically enters an area, disappears and reappears somewhere else
going in a different direction. You could have a guy's ear appear as
though it is on his chin when the camera is at a certain angle. Kind of
extending it into more than just 3 dimensions, since it could vary
wildly depending on the viewpoint.
