Media does not normally cast light, if that is what Greg M. Johnson was 
asking. Scattering media will show shadows cast through it, and both 
scattering and absorbing media will cast shadows(blocking light) if 
their container uses filter.
The radiosity in MegaPOV takes media into account, so this can be used 
to mimic light coming from emitting media. You might get faster or more 
controllable results by using area lights, though.
