Oil beads, Perhaps? It may be the fact that the animation is in slow
motion that it gives that impression. Total simulation time is only one
second, in real time, it's fast. But the animation (using high-speed film
;-) runs over four seconds, so it's super slo-mo. Bath oil beads should
also deform somewhat on collision.
Then again, you may be referring to how high they bounce? The marbles
have a very high coefficient of restitution, the floor, a medium one. I
think also, because they "crumble" together, their drop isn't so sudden.
Then again, I know little about simulating real life, it could definitely
be all wrong.
