You don't really need to render at anything better than 1/2 to 1/4 the 
resolution for an inkjet printer.  This is because it has to mix inks to 
get the colours, so a lot of the detail you spent 7 days rendering is 
either discarded by the program doing the print preprocessing, or is 
illegible due to ink bleed on the final print.

Personally, whenever I print to the colour inkjet in the house, I never 
use more than 90dpi when printing at 360dpi or 180dpi when printing at 
720dpi.

Of course you mileage may vary depending on the quality of printer and 
quality of paper being used.

Oops, enough rambling.  I'll shut up now, and prepare to be corrected by 
someone who actually works in the design/imagesetting industry :)
