Um, to be pedantic, you mean the uvula.
The epiglottis is a flap that helps divert food to the stomach instead of
through the vocal chords to the lungs when swallowing. In a human, you'd have
some difficulty seeing an epiglottis on a daily basis. Perhaps it would be
different for a worm.
