I think he should buy a used 486 system. If you shop around you
should be able to get one dirt cheap (I am still using a 486 machine
at home, it runs at 100 MHz (25 MHz DX4) and has 64 MB RAM, but it
is still a 486) and even though the new Pentium II are getting really
cheap now I still want to wait. At work they are just about throwing
out the old 486's. If he keeps his ears open he might pick up one for
dirt cheap. It would certainly be better than trying to port (and use)
POV-Ray to an old Apple IIRC... IMHO
