Yes, those do exist. It's just that they are not available everywhere, 
and, in some places, not all of the time.

If that's a pure radiosity scene, then, scattering media won't work 
properly as it can't get illuminated by the radiosity.
That leave you with a clumsy mix of emissive and absorbing medias.
