To be honest, although it does raise a chuckle. They are actually 
several questions in one. Not so stupid for ones so ignorant. If you 
think about it.
You (and all of us I would guess) know the answers. So how would you 
explain it to them, understanding that nuclear physics, is not part of 
their world.
