I suppose you don't have the full joystick/throttle combo then.

If you like hefty gear (and have some money to spare), I'd personally 
recommend Thrustmaster's HOTAS Warthog combo (plus some rudder pedals; 
I've heard that CH's pedals are by far the best choice); if ruggedness 
is what you want, you'll never want anything else if you've tried them.

Looks like a suitable choice for starters.
Ever thought about trying some kind of dual-joystick setup, using both 
the SFS and the ST290?

Sounds like a good start. What ship do you have at your disposal?

Make sure to grab your "Freagle" (the additional free Eagle that AFAIK 
all Kickstarter backers get, stationed near the place you started) and 
cash it in (or use it of course).

If you enjoy kicking some pirates' butts we might try to meet up some time.
