BTW, probably the oldest decree with respect to left- vs. right-side 
traffic is indeed a papal one, dating to 1300, and orders pilgrims to 
walk on the /right/ side of a particularly congested bridge in Rome 
(1300 being a "jubilee year", even more pilgrims flocked to Rome than 
normally).

That aside, it is obvious that the /right/ side to drive on is the 
/right/ side, right?
