I cannot deny my training :-)
This is a view of Earth about 3.0 to 2.5 billion years ago. A very
different place indeed. No continents to speak of, only volcanic
islands; oceans with huge quantities of dissolved iron (greenish tint);
atmosphere without oxygen and lots of methane and othe toxic gases
(reddish tint); a Moon which is closer than today (huge tides); days a
bit longer than today by a couple of hours.
A most significant change will come at about 2.4 billion years ago: the
Great Oxygenation Event. That will be my next scene in this series.
