I was under the impression that
    <DocumentRoot>
       /home/me/blah
    </DocumentRoot>
was a legal declaration of a document root, right?

And that it's possible to include configurations from other files?

And that it's possible to put configuration files in /etc/apache2 which 
apache won't read?
