High!

Thank you for your help... as even 200 metres (like in my original 
postings) for the rings is ten times too thick to be scientifically 
accurate, but also your solution (with media) would have resulted in 
rings many kilometres thick, I decided to use double_illuminate rather 
than media (I wonder that it works also with 3.6!), as it also speeds up 
  animation renderings considerably, compared to using media.

See below what I've got now...
