Warps response summarizes some of the reasoning behind my call for an
include. ;-)
There is a pov wiki? Hmm..
Anyway, one might think povray would include normal things like a fog,
water, tree, snow, or mountian macro, as those are common features to
programs like world builder, bryce, vue and others.
Any argument against their inclusion could also be made against the stone,
metal, wood etc.. includes!
Why should povray contain any less, when it is so easy to just make an
include file for each?
The way I see it, those things would attract more users, who could then
learn from those include files and subsequently contribute more content to
the community.
There isn't any reason to make such things obscure to a new user, or to
exclude them from the distro.
Include files are tiny, and can be a very valuable resource for both new and
experienced users.
Many wonderful resources are lost to the internet via dead sites...why
should users who have been around since before "the button hole" be the only
ones with that knowledge?
So I'm going to go for it, and will leave the final call to the respected
pov team.
What could be lost from this effort? Denial by the pov team is the worst
outcome, in such case we can just post the results here. My goal will be
accomplished by either outcome.
And I didnt take your comment as a negative, I just wanted to post some of
the reasons I am doing this. :-)
