Found the problem: the uninstall of beta 31 left the executables in place, and 
the installer for beta 32 did not replace them, but placed them in another 
location. My shortcut was not updated.
The new location is:
\Mes Documents et settings\Alain\Application Data\POV-Ray\v3.7\bin
It was ran from \program files

So, I was using the wrong version without knowing it.
