I stand corrected, but that is how I interpreted it as you preferred the
top row. Anyway, inverse gamma correction is the thing to do in order to
get what you ask for.

(This is the same issue I was pondering with my own ray tracer a while ago.)

In addition, it would be nice if POV4 supported some other tone mapping
methods besides this linear one. I guess Megapov has "exposure" keyword
for this.
