Then why ask for approvals/rejections from the community as a whole?

Sorry, but this was my first thought when I see "floating female figure"
just way too typical in the rendered image world. As of some wish
fulfillment syndrome. Either floating with wings, or scantily clad with
guns seems to be the trend. Nothing personal about you, just the CG
image scene as a whole. More social commentary...
Obviously this is something by you and for you. You did not indicate
that in your post. I was under the assumption that this may be for a
general audience, given you were asking for approvals/rejections.
and you didn't get the reference in the comment I made, didn't know if
you would or not. ;)

Right, yes ... sort of. They wanted it "yesterday" so this is for you
and the contributors?

Can splash screens in your target platform only be 8 bit?

Never, but look at the POV-Ray splash screens... They're lavishly
detailed, interesting, bright. If POV started with a dull, desaturated
image with so little dynamic range, I'd wonder if it were a step back...
and wonder what happened when POV-Ray used to be so great.

I think I understand. My critique stands that this is not an optimal
splash screen, but if you're your own audience, then my (or the rest of
the community's) critique is irrelevant. It would be tantamount to me
posting a picture of my kid asking for critique as a desktop background.
Irrelevant, and I probably wouldn't like the resulting commentary.
