To help you position correctly objects touching each other, like figure and 
chair (or any other collision between books for instance), you may consider 
using trace{} in POV-Ray. Just make sure the figure is "sitting" at the 
origin, translate her to a point above the chair and let trace do the rest. 
Much less trial and error then  :-)
