So, my most recent test results. The hair now have a simple algorithm for
gravity and wind: only the gravity part is calculated realistically, wind is
just a cheat/tweak, but they provide some visually pleasing results, which
is all I'm after.

I've also scripted a nice macro which will take the line and produce a
conical shape along the path of the hair. In the last post, one could see
the obvious drawback of using 2d-meshes for hair: they layered to a solid
wall...

In this image, the drawback of simulating single strands of hair with no
object interaction is visible: hairs disappear behind hairs where it would
be realistic to have it the other way round, on some angles, the results
look somewhat strange...

Ah well. I'm not *simulating* hair, I'm just glueing it onto a surface, so
what would you expect? Actually simulating it would require quite a few more
CPU cycles...

I'll be running a test for memory comparison next, but I'm quite satisfied
with how everything turned out. Now I'll just have to slap it all into
useful code and work on the texturing possibilites... Might still be some
time off till I can release the macros to the public.

Regards,
Tim

PS: Also worked a little on the base model of the furry fellow. Now has two
toes. :-)
