A nice, meaningful suggestion/idea would not have been met with
harshness. Yes-- there may have been some debate, but when all is said,
the poster would not be viciously lynched (I think) as was in this case.
But nice/helpful was not my perception of the OP's tone. Crass and rude
seems more like it. Maybe its the OP's writing style. Look at his
website, he seems very... uhm.. egotistical.

I tend to agree, this is, for the most part, a good group of people. I'm
a relative newcomer to these groups.. So I don't quite know everything.

He did not appear knowledgable enough to make the claims he was making.
He did not appear to be helpful...
One idea that does exist, and would be nice to see in the official
binaries is renderman-compatible shader capability. I've played with
POVMan, and am impressed, but the compiler should have been incorporated
into the rendering engine.
His post had all the halmarks of just simply complaining, without
contributing enough in the way of ideas.

There are.. I'm probably one of those. I've used POVRay since 0.9 all
the way to the current version. I've been around the program for a very
long time. I remember when it was a big deal that 1.0 came out. I
remember when atmosphere and halo were added and when they were changed
to media. I remember how big a deal adding radiosity was, when it was
added. I remember reading "Its not possible" so many times, and the
suddenly and finally became possible.
