I think it looks good.

As someelse already said, if you made it into a tree shape, and then added
lots of little lights IMHO it would look really good.  A small amount of
media around each light to give it some "glare" would look great too.

I actually thought of doing exactly this yesterday after having seen one of
my colleagues' screen saver, but I was busy last night :-(
