Just posting this rough draft (no antialiasing) of the 'new and improved'
building in this same thread here to show how bad my memory of it was. I
drove out to see it after visiting with a niece and nephew. Didn't remember
to take my camera so I had to try pacing off distances and drawing parts on
an envelope. I didn't get as detailed as I'd have liked because the general
public was noticably talking like I might be working on some kind of
terrorist plot as they walked by. I don't know if I'd be able to explain it
to the employees there.
:-)
They had painted the steps, which includes planters at the corners, an
alternating white and dark gray. Didn't look right to me. The outer walls
are a chocolate brown, no color changes from brick to brick. Possibly
painted or stained. I know the Tennessee side rest area has yellow-brown
colored buildings so maybe I mismatched the two places. The columns showed
signs of having been repainted too, still white but with a slight change in
whiteness midway. Only good thing I found different about the place is the
roof, except the lighting isn't showing the edges properly unless more
diffuseness can brighten up the outer underside. There are three marble
panels above the front entrance. Also a couple marble benches that would be
good to add.
