To much honor, really! I am a simple POVer without particular skills. :-}
Hmm... Alternatively, I have used image maps of cobblestoned surfaces, of
course, on a HF (or isosurface) to simulate just that, and it renders pretty
fast. For backgrounds that is fine (even for foregrounds sometimes). But the
real thing is better in the foreground. You could combine those then...
