ah, oh well - linux here, no windows is preferred environment
but i found something called engauge on sourceforge, which seems
likely to do what i want in terms of digitizing.
please tell you can vary the number of points on a particular 'frame'/
cross-section in a mesh. i can't see why not though.
mine's going to be looking remarkably cylindrical at each end and
somewhat rounded in the middle.
once i figure the syntax :-)
