You got it the wrong way around:  It is not about the POV-Ray development
taking the time.  It is about real-life taking the time, and then, when
finally having time to work on POV-Ray first having to sort through piles of
questions and suggestions that come by email and that are similar to the one
posted here that started this thread.

Of course, the real problem might be that only for the Mac version there is
still a support email address.  For the Windows (and DOS) version the
support email address had to be discontinued years ago.  The signal to noise
ratio was simply getting unacceptable.
