Yep, I guess it is time to get aquainted with the mesh editor. :-)
UV mapping scares me. I assume you are talking about UV mapping to get the
runes on the blade? Actually I was going to use a rune font to difference
very shallow impressions in the blade. That way I can create an
ever-so-slightly smaller blade inside of an outer "shell", give it a
different material, and have the runes be any texture/color I want. Did
that make sense? This may be a brute force approach, but I think it is very
flexible.
