Scattering media doesn't take ambient lightsources
from radiosity calculations into account. After reading
the docs carefully I should have expected that, as it
says

6.11.11.2.9 Media and Radiosity
Radiosity estimation can be affected by media.

It doesn't say that its vice versa.

But its always better to experiment and find out
yourself...
