One of the more idiosyncratic entries this round, this tracing depicts

inventions awaits, in his workshop, inspection by its sponsor.

Accordingly, Txemi has used the virtual capability of computer graphics
to model one of them. The invention is shown in an imagined workshop.
To look inside his workshop is to look into the life of Leonardo and pay
tribute, and ponder how and why his powerful genius so captivates our
imagination.

A distant room with a painting reminds us of the way Leonardo embodies
both art and engineering with his inventiveness. His engineering ideas
are often whimsical and we take delight in the way he combines existing
technologies in a new way to solve a problem.

This picture brings to life one such marriage: between an open bark and
a waterwheel, to produce a paddleboat. We can delight in the simple
connection of crankshaft and gear wheels to apply manpower to a pair of
paddlewheels, mounted on opposite sides of the bark.

The craft and all its components are carefully shaped with Hamapatch and
some inventive texturing is used to simulate the woodwork ;) The

workshop accoutrements, an assistant sweeping up, and an allusion to the
visionary role of the inventor in the lightbeams pouring in through an
open door.

much as his ideas shaped it, they map a connection between man's
inventions and his archetypical desires. He signifies not only the
restless, technical genius behind man, the survivor, but man the dreamer
and explorer as well.
