My last try with this blob. Seems I can't get what I want before 2003
(see p.g Snail racing) so I'm not playing any more (maybe ;)

500K photons, focal blur, HF base. 2hr trace.

Source, without the HF, in p.t.s-f "Try this blob". Move the component
texture to the end of the blob and use something like pigment{ rgbf
<0.9,0.94,1, 0.96>}
