Ideas:
Set it on an end table, in a room.
Give it a power cord, possibly winding its way from the lamp base to a power
outlet.
Unless it's one of those touch-sensitive types, perhaps give it a power
switch of some kind.
Put the scene's light source inside the lamp as a bulb.
Give the lamp shade pleats.
