I think it's because radiosity is turned on.

Go into the "Render" menu and select "Rendering Options" and if "use
Radiosity" is checked, then uncheck it and render.  It should work fine.  If
it doesn't work, I don't know what to say.

I'll check out the model real fast and see if that is the problem.
