Here is an example (i hope) of the distortion I referred to in general.  The
arrows on the left picture point to places that seem skewed to me on the
spheres.  The picture on the left was rendered with 1024x768 size while the
picture on the right was rendered at 1024 x 1024.  The spheres in the right
side picture seem normal to me.
