Well yeah, but if you're projecting onto a plane (which we are) then you
gain the distortion. This is why fisheye doesn't get this distortion, as it
effectively projects onto a sphere (so the projected size corresponds to the
angle subtended at the camera, the size "from the camera's perspective").

Though I'm not 100% sure what a real camera does, probably somewhere
in-between as a consequence of the lens bending the light...
