Well, I tried VideoMach, it seems like a great program, but I can only
use it for 30 days and then I have to buy it. Might have another look
at VirtualDub, but it can't read my mpegs made by cmpeg or mpeg2encode.
As for the DivX codec itself, I was greatly disappointed by the quality
and size of the animations it produced, regardless of the settings,
especially compared with what cmpeg can output in plain mpeg-1. I got
by far the best results with Indeo, but all the codecs seem to lack the
sort of options a program like cmpeg has, where it can make better
quality animations at the expense of processing time. Even with DivX on
"slowest" encoding and 2 passes, Video Mach whipped through 160 frames
in a few seconds, and, not to my surprise, the animation was huge and
ugly. I may just stick with cmpeg.
