You've made me reconsider using low radiosity settings in my scenes.
With settings as low as you mentioned a person can get away with a lot.
As for the media in the leaves.... it seems a double_illuminate_map
shouldn't be too hard for those patch-makers looking for a project. With
a double_illumimate_map you could make even normal leaves behave
differently when backlit.. without the need for an inside texture.
Nice image, very photorealistic (especially the tree's reflection in the
water).
