We understand your pain. If it could be finished sooner it would.

As I am not one of the POV-Ray developers I cannot offer you a different
expiration date. They choosed the expiration dates based upon the need
to control the changes in the source code across all platforms and to
eliminate, or at least reduce, duplicate bug reports that may already
have been reported by users of the other platforms.

Can't say, I haven't heard one way or the other. The POV-Team sometimes
works in mysterious ways :~)
