If the only tool you know is POV-Ray, then yes. When using proper tools
like Rhino for modelling, Photoshop for texturing and post-processing
and POV-Ray for rendering and things not possible with the other two the
problem fades away. It's still a lot of work but those images weren't
made in 15 minutes either.


The problem with these "big ship on black background" images is scale.
Athmospheric cues and familiarity factor can't be used. Cramming in a
lot of sub-pixel size detail helps. Smaller objects placed near and far
also infer scale.
