Hi,
Try mpeg2encode from the mpeg group:

ftp://ftp.mpegtv.com/pub/mpeg/mssg/mpeg2vidcodec_v12.tar.gz

It takes ppm files that povray can produce with the +FP option and
create a mpeg(2?) file.
