I think this is an easier approach. Set up a
camera{ location Place
              look_at Place +z
              angle   10
             }
with a variable Place starting at <0,0,-10>.  Then slowly knock down the angle as
you adjust the x and y parameters of the Place variable to zoom in on the area
you want.

I also made a few more that zoom in on much more colorful areas of the pattern,
on some baby Mandelbrots...
