I'm not sure if I'd call it a "shadow" but I think it should only cast some
turblenced ait ...

I, personally would try to give the media-container a (maybe bozo) bumpmap,
(small bumps, large scale), give the object an IOR and trace with photons
... (maybe faked caustics are enough for the effect) ...
this SHOULD fake the way light goes through the flame, and the shadow should
look good ... but the flame ???
Since we've not yet something like variable-(media-)IOR there is no way to
do this physically correct ...

Is container of the flame an ISO ???
